How to locate your mobile phone

Losing a mobile phone is an extremely traumatic experience for me and somehow I manage to lose my mobile phone quite often. When you lose your mobile phone, you lose the device (which is bad enough for itself), as well as all your messages, contacts, pictures and all kinds of private information. However, there are ways of locating mobile phones that helped me find my mobile phone with ease. The IMEI, ESN or MEID number is extremely important. This is the number that can help you track your phone if it gets stolen or lost. The number is usually written on a sticker under the phone’s battery. I always keep this number on some safe place, so that I can present it to the wireless carrier or the police. If you have an Android phone, you can use the Mobile Defense program that offers tracking of mobile phones, as well as wipe and backup services and remote lock. If you have an Apple iPhone, you can subscribe to MobileMe and use the feature Find my iPhone. The current location of the iPhone will be shown on Google maps. There is an option to kill the phone if you are not able to find it. An AT&T mobile phone can be tracked down with the AT&T family map. If you are a BlackBerry user, you can locate your phone via Berry Locator. A message will be sent to the lost BlackBerry and you can see where it is on a map from your PC.
